July 22, 2009 Update
To Maryland State Arts Council Grantees:
The State of Maryland, through the Department of Business & Economic Development and the Maryland State Arts Council, is the single largest contributor to the arts in Maryland. No other organization, in most cases, public or private, invests more to strengthen and sustain Maryland’s vibrant arts community than your state government. We count on grant recipients like you to recognize and acknowledge the state’s financial commitment whenever and wherever possible. This acknowledgment is a fundamental part of our effort to leverage the value of the Maryland State Arts Council grants and to communicate the importance of the economic impact of the arts in Maryland.
In this economic climate especially, it is important to continue to make our citizens aware of the contributions of the arts and the arts council.
New Logo
Our strategic plan for 2009-2013 includes a new logo. This is a reminder that you need to use this logo on your websites and publications if you have not already done so.
Window Cling
Please attach the window cling you received to a window on your door or entry for all who enter to see.
Please review the MSAC’s Grant Recognition Guidelines and make sure that everyone who helps publicize and promote your organization is aware of your rights and responsibilities as a grantee.
Feel free to contact your MSAC Program Director if you have any questions about MSAC’s Grant Recognition Guidelines or need additional information.
GRANT RECOGNITION GUIDELINES
Your signed Grant Agreement form includes a provision requiring that the organization credit the Arts Council for support of activities funded by MSAC.
These guidelines explain the use of the MSAC logo as well as written and oral credit. Failure to comply with all terms of the agreement may jeopardize future funding. Compliance with these requirements will be reviewed when your organization requests grants in the future.
Grant agreements require that all general operating and art program grant recipients credit MSAC for funding support whenever or wherever credit is given: printed materials; broadcast or spoken acknowledgments; print, broadcast or electronic advertising; media production; and any other place where funding support is acknowledged.
NOTE: If your organization has received funding from other sources for a specific project and those funders are credited, Maryland State Arts Council must also receive credit as providing operating support.
- Credit for MSAC must be commensurate with that of other funders at the same level, whether private or public.
- When the MSAC’s financial support comprises the largest individual share of funding for a project, performance or exhibition, acknowledgment of MSAC shall be proportionally more prominent in the printed, audio and video materials, internet, publicity and advertising than acknowledgment of other sources of financial support.
STYLE GUIDE & PLACEMENT
